Jumping

I draw something I need to do – in this case some guy jumping in the air.

How to start:This is a classic way to start off without reference,it's used in comics and animation and general illustration all over the place, you rough in where the 3 main shapes of your figure ( head, chest and hips) are going to be, then put in a few blind stabs in the dark about where you want the arms and legs to be (professional tip: the legs are connected to the hips, generally)All of my drawings and paintings start off like this. The only exceptions are life drawings, or if I'm asked to do a portrait or caricature- basically I'm painting in the very bare bones of the drawing, where I'm wanting things to go.
